Today, Lenovo has unveiled two new smartphones – the Moto Z and Moto Z Force. These two are basically same phones, with some differences in thickness and hence in battery capacity. The later also sports a Shattershield display. It is worth noting that both the device lacks a 3.5mm audio jack, though Lenovo will be providing an adaptor in the box.
Lenovo Moto Z
The Moto Z is a very slim device with just 5.2mm of waistline. It is made from Aluminum and Stainless Steel. It has a 5.5″ QHD AMOLED display, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 SoC coupled with 4GB of RAM and 32 or 64GB of expandable storage. The camera department is handled by a 13MP rear sensor with laser autofocus, OIS and dual-tone LED flash, and a 5MP front wide-angle lens sensor. On the front is a fingerprint scanner, and a water-repellant coating. The battery stands at 2,600 mAh with QuickCharge support. The Moto Z runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow and features USB Type-C.
Lenovo Moto Z Force
The Moto Z Force is a little thicker than the regular Moto Z at 6.99mm and packs a bigger 3500 mAh battery. The highlight of this device is it’s shattershield display. It also got a 21MP rear camera with OIS, Laser-Autofocus and f/1.8 aperture. Rest of the specifications are same as the regular Moto Z.
The unique feature of the Moto Z lineup of devices is MotoMods. Moto Mods snap onto the Moto Z using integrated magnets. Lenovo is working with some brands to keep introducing Moto Mods for today’s Moto Z Droid Edition phones. And Moto Mods developed today are designed to work with future generation Moto Z phones as well. When you snap on a Moto Mod, your phone recognizes it and adjusts automatically. The one-time setup is easy as a couple quick taps on the phone display.
Some of the MotoMods include – Moto Insta-Share Projector which streams videos or photos up to 70” on any surface and from any angle; a JBL SoundBoost Speaker with Stereo sound and a kickstand; an Incipio offGRID Power Pack with 22 hours of battery life and wireless charging & Moto Style Shell cases with can be attached to the back.
