HTC presented us a new Smartphones Series this year. The HTC U Ultra is the current flagship model by the taiwanese company HTC. It comes with a new fresh look and latest hardware. Let’s have a deep look, how the HTC U Ultra performs.
A fresh new look
The HTC U Ultra is a cut of the HTC One Series. It features a fully glass backcover instead of the typical aluminium unibody. The sides of the glass backcover is horizontally and vertically rounded for a better handling and stenght. The aluminium frame around the glass backcover looks premium. The front is covered with a 2.5D glass. Moreover, the front speaker looks similar to some other handsets. The home button has a built-in fingerprint scanner. The physical buttons are back on the sides of the home button.
HTC builds the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 into the HTC U Ultra. It’s a 64 bit quad-core processor with a CPU Speed up to 2.15 Ghz. It’s a good processor, but not the latest. The Snapdragon 835 isn’t available yet. So, HTC decided to run the SD821.
No Headphone Jack
It’s not a secret: Phones without headphone jack. Years ago, I unveiled a Concept Phone, which was different than other Phones. It hasn’t a headphone jack. The idea was to replace it with the MicroUSB port and make it from analog to digital. Apple iPhone was the first Phone without a headset jack. The HTC U Ultra also enjoys this trend.
The HTC U Ultra’s camera also enjoys the UltraPixel 2 Technology by HTC. This means that you can switch between the normal mode and UltraPixel mode to capture more light at night. The resolution of the Main Camera is 4000×3000 (12MP).
Moreover, HTC builds a laser autofocus and an Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) into the HTC U Ultra. You can now focus faster and record videos without any shake with the ƒ/1.8 aperture. The camera lens is made of Sapphire lens to protect it from any scratches. However, it features several modes and settings like a pro mode for professional photography with RAW Support, face detection, Hyperlapse, Long Exposure, Slow Motion with 720p at 120fps and also 4K video recording.
Here, we get a 5.7inch Super LCD 5 Display with a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels. The pixel density is at 513ppi and the display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 with curved edges (2.5D).
Here, we get a solid phone with two displays. The second display of the HTC U Ultra is great to see notifications while playing games or watching videos. You can also set quick access and prefered contacts on it. The perfomance of the U Ultra is also good. There are no lags. Everything runs smooth. HTC also worked on the camera. It takes great shots with realistic colors. The pictures are sharp and HDR works fine.
All in all, it’s an awesome phone, which looks fresh and features the latest hardwares expect to the processor. I really recommend it to you. Just go to a store and hold it on your hands. You will feel the premium too.
