Xiaomi has launched two devices today – Mi 5 at the MWC and Mi 4s in China.
Mi 5 has a sleek back and packs a packs a 5.15″ IPS LCD display with Full-HD resolution. Xiaomi has also integrated a lot of display settings at the software level, so you can adjust the color tone (Warm, Standard and Cool) or the saturation (Brilliant and Standard) etc. There’s also a ‘Reading mode’ that reduces background glare.
Above display sits a 4 MP front camera (2 µm pixel size) in center with ambient light sensor. The back has primary 16 MP camera on top left corner with OIS, PDAF, DTI technology and Dual-LED flash.
The Mi 5 uses the latest and greatest Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC clocked at 2.15 GHz (1.80 GHz in one variant) along with the adreno 530 GPU and it is backed up by a 3GB/4GB LPDDR4 RAM. The device will come in 32GB, 64 GB and 128 GB variants.
The Mi 5 packs a 3000mAh non-removable battery with also Supports Qualcomm QuickCharge 3.0. It also sports the trendy USB Type-C port. Below the display lies a physical Home button key integrated with the fingerprint sensor, similar to what Samsung has been doing for quite a while.
The device is compact and only 7.25 mm thick. Also, it is very lightweight with 129 grams. The back has matte finish, so it doesn’t attract smudges and also it doesn’t slip off your hands.
On the software side, the Xiaomi Mi 5 is running on the company’s famous and quite popular MIUI 7 OS which is based on Android Marshmallow. The device will be available in Black, Gold and White color options.
Xiaomi also launched a slightly upgraded version of its successful 2014 flagship Mi 4, known as Mi 4s. The device sports a 5″ 1080p display, a Snapdragon 808 SoC along with 3 GB RAM, a 13 MP rear camera along with a 5 MP selfie snapper, 64 GB internal storage with expandable support up to 128 GB, USB Type-C connectivity and a 3,260 mAh battery. The device will be available in Black, Gold, White and Pink.
